At Portara Consulting we focus on wisdom in leadership through Executive Coaching and Team Development.  Inspired by the Greek tradition of Plato and Aristotle, the name Portara refers to the ancient remains of an Apollinian temple on the Greek island, Naxos.  The architectural remains of a doorway tower on the hillside over the port, beckoning travelers to step through the gates and begin their journey. 'Portara' derives from the Latin word for doorway.  

Many of the greatest minds from Antiquity to the present age have studied and contributed to a significant body of work on wisdom.  We see Executive Wisdom as wisdom potentially found in senior leadership and used to the benefit of humanity. Requiring temperance and courage, Executive Wisdom is a process of careful consideration and actions that produce goodness for society and individuals, thereby avoiding folly and providing justice.  Our work facilitates this process through reflective questions and relationship.  Creativity is fostered, and the probability of mobilizing others and meeting business objectives in increased.
